True, it just happened to me today. I paid my booking using paypal then few hours later they called me and said they didn't accept paypal, eventhough paypal had successfully charged me. They asked me to book again using credit card, which I refused because it meant I would pay twice for that hotel.

1 month to wait for refund..don't use ctrip!!!

Bought 4 flights, payment went through, credit card charged. Then I find out it's been cancelled, and I have to wait a month for the refund. A month! They have 3800rmb of my money. Never again. Customer service is shocking. This is the third time they have taken my money and cancelled my flights. Terrible. If this company was in the west, it would have been sued to ***. How can they take money, say it was successful, only to then cancel it, and not refund immediately?

Ctrip canceled my flight without my knowledge

Ctrip canceled a flight I booked, however they did manage to take all my money. I will only be refunded in one month, meaning I have now lost over $500 US dollars. I am now unable to buy a new ticket because I do not have sufficient funds and have to wait for the refund. Ctrip has ruined my whole vacation. Ctrip claims my phone records prove that I asked for the trip to be canceled, but will not let me see these phone records. If this was a court case, this would be a case of withholding evidence. Who is going to hold this company to responsibility??? Crooks or what?

Worst experience ever

Sent all the documents to proceed with the payment and it took them 4!!! hours to finally get back to me and say my passport pic was too blur and they need a photo of me holding my card. Like I was trying to visit the President's House, not to book a flight. If you don't want to loose a deal and hours of your life, avoid this company. Very unfriendly to foreigners and very slow in answering. In addition to this pain the deals are hardly better the ones of competitors.

Wrong booking processed, Ctrip would not refund after immediate response

I selected a flight online last night (November 21) for a flight leaving this afternoon (November 22), but after the payment went through for processing, I realized that the booking was for a later flight on the same day. I called Ctrip immediately to stop the processing and they called back 15 minutes later saying that the tickets could not be refunded and only cancelled with a 90% cancellation fee. As I needed to book the original flight for a friend stuck in Xiamen, I was told that I could not book that until I had cancelled the wrong flight, which I could only do by agreeing to the cancellation fee. Nice. Yes, they want 24 hours to process a booking when they need it, but when you want to cancel a flight immediately, it seems they can process the charge very quickly. There are reasons that there are consumer protections in place almost everywhere allowing for a brief window to cancel a charge because, either through human or technical error, mistakes are made. Their response in this instance is absolutely unacceptable.

Ctrip Website Review from Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Ctrip's website should be fixed....Instead of checking into the problem they had, they charged my credit card while I didn't go through the ordering process. I submitted my card info but then I stopped due to the pop up message of unsecured ordering activity. A normal complete process would show up the confirmation # at the end of the transaction. Since I stopped in the middle of it, I never got that. Yet hours later I was shocked by receiving an email saying that my card was charged. I informed them the whole situation right after. They didn't try to listen & help out the customer but insist of charging me for something I didn't authorize. I switched to booking.com which is a much better website. At least they care & listen to their clients.

Paid for a ticket but it was not confirmed. CS does not reply my e-mail and hot line is busy all the time.

I paid for a flight ticket through http://english.ctrip.com/flights and the money was deducted from my account. In accordance with their website, I should get a confirmation after the payment is confirmed (which was immediatelly after the booking). I cannot contact them through their hot line (400 619 **** - I am in mainlnad China) , since the line for flight is busy and the other attendants say I have to speak with the flight department. Already sent 02 emails to CS (e_service@***.com) and no reply at all. Very unreliable and hard to reach! Booking number: 157 404 ****Beijing to BKK, round trip.

same thing happened to me. From KUL to SIN, not that the ticket I purchased was expensive, but it really frustrates me when I made my payment and expected to have a smooth travel, only to realize that there wasn't actual booking with the airline few hours before flight.

Stick with Ctrip

I've been using Ctrip for 7 yrs and not yet got any problems with them. Just curious why there're some negative reviews here when coming across this website. The rates of hotel and flight are best even comparing with Booking and Agoda. I dont think any online travel website could serve cheaper price than that of Ctrip. In terms of customer service, they seem to have the largest base in Asia up to 12,000 employees to pick up phone call and all of them speak quite good English, Japanese and Korean. Some of my friends call them and surprisingly Chinese CS is able to smoothly communicate with you without any problem.

You must be an owner or employee knowing exactly how many employee they have to take calls. Pity not one of the 12000 had the decency to help me.

I lost hkd1600. Wish I read all the complaints about them before I booked with then.

I will never use them again. One person can be wrong but so many complaining about the same thing......makes one wonder doesn't it.

The booking system website is quite confusing especially for our Asian. Its only indicating first name, middle name and last name, while other travel agencies indicate family name/surname which is clearly understood by all people. The comparison btw ctrip and zuji....... which zuji is so clearly written....... When a mistake is been make on the name, we are not able to amend either with ctrip or even at the airport counter and in result the ticket is being void without any refund........ I am having such terrible experience with ctrip .......... please review yur booking system for not misleading customer...........................................................................................................................................................Thanks

Good OTA to Trust

Ctrip has the lowest rate for both hotel and flight of domestic China. i've been with Ctrip for 2 yrs and it made me happy customer all the time. At the very begining, i was wondering whether it's reliable to book on Ctrip but after purchasing two air tickets and 6 rooms in Beijing, i confirmed they are wonderful. The website is somehow different style from other online agency, however, the instruction is really helpful indicating me how to fill in information and save money by C-money. i will give it a five star rating. Thanks Ctrip for its pretty good English service team and quick response.

Beware of Ctrip China

Tried to book flights with Ctrip in China. Turns out you can't use a gmail account (you find this out after you have filled in all your details). Paid online using my NZ credit card. Managed to provide another email account and thought all was well. An hour or so later received a phone call saying my flights had only been reserved, and that I needed to provide copies of my credit card- both sides, passport and I needed to print and sign authorisation forms so they could use my credit card. I explained I wouldn't be able to do this until the following day as we have no printer and I was using my husband's non-gmail email. The rep said just do it asap. She sent the forms through, then 3 hours later I saw I had 3 consecutive missed calls and a text saying my flights have been cancelled. After calling their office I was told that I hadn't supplied the information in due time. If I wanted those flights I would have to rebook. She would recommend that I submit all the extra paperwork prior to booking. I was offered the option of handwriting all the authorisation paperwork. When I booked online there was no mention of submitting all this extra paperwork. Beware that you may need to supply all of this information should you want to fly with Ctrip and you have a foreign credit card :( Needless to say I won't be trying to use them again. If you don't want headache, stay away from ctrip

Worst experience ever I had so far. I booked four tickets online, got a message the flight is cancelled and need to cancel the tickets. Called back but they only cancel the ticket for my 10 years old. Next day, I called again and was informed that they cannot cancel the other 3 tickets because the flight status is normal now. I spent so much time with them about this nonsense, Finally I got a ticket for my little one from them for an overpriced ticket. It is just simply outrageous. Should be ZERO star. I still have headache now.
